Top tips for laying porcelain paving
Mention the word porcelain and many people visualise a fragile product like a delicate teacup. However, when used in paving slabs this material is known for its strength and resistance to damage.
Porcelain is becoming the hot new trend in DIY paving, and is well worth considering if you’re laying a new patio this year. Locally, porcelain has yet to take off, but this will change as more people discover its versatility and strength.
If refreshing your outdoor space is on your ‘to do’ list, remember, choosing paving is the most important decision you’ll face. Get it wrong and you could be left with a patio that’s unsafe and unsightly.
Your slabs need to be able to withstand everything the UK climate can throw at them. The good news is porcelain is resistant to UV light, scratches, stains, extreme temperatures, salt, water and mould so it will stay looking like new for longer.

Saturday 18th May saw us host a family fun day to celebrate the launch of our new NYEs branding and expanded site. Going by the name of ‘Have a NYEs day’, the event attracted over 1,000 people, and featured an overwhelming array of free activities and attractions, as well as a hugely successful fundraiser for one of our local charities. Even the weather behaved itself, topping off a fantastic day for visitors both little and large.
1st Shipley Scout Group was there to welcome guests to our Kingsfold depot, where they were greeted by the impressive sight of our new 1000m2 warehouse, and the enticing smell of fresh pies, burgers and hot dogs. The delicious local fare was supplemented by refreshing beverages, including NYEs branded beer from the Surrey Hills Brewery, and Cabin Pressure gin.

… the 1st Roffey Scout Group! Thanks to all those that voted for the group, it will receive £500 of funding from NYEs Building Supplies to help with a building project of its choice.
Since we began the Proud to be Local initiative in 2018, we’ve been overwhelmed by the level of support shown to the nominees. 1st Roffey Scout Group now joins a growing list of deserving recipients of Proud to be Local funding, and it’s heartening to see such a well-established organisation continuing to be valued by the community.
The scout group has existed since 1926, making it the oldest in Horsham. As a testament to its long history, the group meets in a hut that was originally built in 1928, and while it has seen many improvements over the years, it still requires occasional renovation.
